QuiltCon, part 3: touring

On Friday (just a week ago as I write this post) Anna and I took a day to be tourists.

We began at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Archives.

From the "growing up in Plains" section.

The timeline of his presidency in world and national events.

His legacy is the humanitarian work he has accomplished in the decades since.
Visiting the library was rather poignant because the Carter family had just announced that he is in hospice care now.

We then went to the Atlanta Botanical Garden .  The 76-degree weather was mild even for Atlanta and we had lunch outside at the garden's restaurant.  We enjoyed the orchid show (a whole lot less crowded than the Chicago Botanic Garden orchid show which is currently on).

The newest installation opened Feb. 18.    Trolls: Save the Humans
are made by Danish artist Thomas Dambo. They're placed along a winding walking path.

ABG has three sculptures by Dale Chihuly.

A frog with a book!

  1. Looks like you had a grand time all around. An interesting note: my first husband was a radio reporter in Atlanta in the early 70s. He came home from an event with then-governor Carter and said "I think he's going to run for president." I rarely believed anything he said ...
