QuiltCon, part 2 the quilts

I took photos of nearly all 600 quilts in the show as well as the artists' statements.

Here are a few.

Joan of Arc, paper-pieced, by Veruschka Zarate / Loma Linda, CA.
20 colors, 1453 bits of fabric.

Group quilt challenge:   cool colorway.

Group challenge:   warm colorway.
The FTS in the top right and the Fundamental Human Rights in the lower right are both in reaction to the Supreme Court decision.

Windham/Ruby & Bee fabric challenge.

Crowned With Care by Uzoma Samuel Anyanwu, Lagos, Nigeria. Everyone (myself included) asked if he had seen the quilts by Bisa Butler.  Apparently he had not but he knows about them now!

There's a Youth Division for ages 12 and under.
Maxine, by Henry Webb of Germantown, TN, was the winner

but Bob's Kool Quilt by David Oliver Schwartz was my favorite.  Read the artist's statement!

Some of the quilts had tiny pieces.

Some of the quilts had astounding precision quilting. (These by Carson Converse and Audrey Esarey.)

Of all the African wax resist prints in the universe, the one in this quilt is the same as this woman's head wrap.  And she is not the quilter!
(Quilt: Ray's Georgia by Diane Lyles, Madison,AL)
