(I chronicled the design in this post .)
It's still pretty |
I quilted each unit differently.
During Sunday evening TV watching I made seven out of the 25 blocks I need for the baby quilt that's my August OMG. The idea is from Quilts, Quilts and More Quilts! by Diana McClun and Laura Nownes. That's an oldie but still a goodie -- c. 1993.
The blocks are 8-1/2" (unf) and the novelty squares are 4.5" (unf.) .

Oh Scrap!
I hope your week is off to a good start!
I like your Spare Parts lll quilt! Great use for orphan blocks. I sometimes put them on quilt backs but I like your idea better. Yet another quilt made!
ReplyDeleteThe baby quilt is adorable! The center squares are perfect for a baby !
Hi Nann,
ReplyDeleteYour Spare Parts III quilt is so pretty. I love all the different color and fabric choices. That baby quilt looks like it is going to be good sized and colorful. I just love that bottom left block - love the colors. ~smile~ Roseanne
You've done a fantastic job with the quilting on Spare Parts III. I am not brave enough quite yet to quilt each unit differently. I will get there, though. I adore those novelty fabric blocks. It looks like you've got a lot of fun projects going on. Happy sewing! Andrea
ReplyDeleteSpare parts is beautiful and I love the different take on an eye spy block
ReplyDeleteI've got that book, too! Somewhere... I should dig it out and take a look.

Great quilt Nann. I have been wanting to play with my orphan blocks. This is great inspiration. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteThose novelty squares - what a great way to show them off, thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteVery fun projects. Congrats on the finish and on the new start.
ReplyDeleteGreat Spare Parts. It feels so good to use those lonely blocks up! I love that block. This quilt is going to be great. I sure hope the squares I sent arrive before you finish all 25 blocks!
