It's adoption time!

Quilting is more fun than Housework

When Cynthia at Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework announced the 2016 Orphan Adoption Event I knew I'd be on board.

I reviewed the contents of the box o' blocks -- that's my name for the box of orphan blocks and "units" (four-patches, HSTs, and other pieces left over from projects).  I have chosen two sets of blocks for adoption.

If you would like a chance to win, leave a message in the comments by Wednesday, September 21.  State your preference.  If you write "either," you are not eligible. I will use a random number generator to choose the winners.  (I will pay postage (U.S. addresses only).  I need your email address to notify you. If you do not provide your email address then you are not eligible.)

SET 1:   Barn Dance blocks. These were a guild mystery several years ago.  Blocks are 13.5" unfinished.

SET 2:  New York Beauty blocks. These were prototypes for a quilt I made earlier this year. Blocks are 8.5" unfinished.

  6. I can see potential in both sets of blocks. Some generous sashing and borders would turn them into lovely donation quilts!

  11. These would be perfect for a charity quilt project that my girlfriend runs called Mito Quilts of Hope mitoquiltsofhope.org It is for giving quilts to children and adults affected by mitochondrial disease, which is a neurodegenerative disease that can be life threatening. Please FB message "Lisa Mito" if anyone would like to help out or donate a orphaned quilt or use the contact on mitoquiltsofhope.org.

  13. I love the Barn Dance blocks. They could be two wonderful table runners, or perhaps a quilt with a creative setting. I would have fun coming up with something!

  19. I don't think that alot of people read your instructions. You said, "don't say 'either' ", and yet half the people responding said that they'd like to have either. I don't want any, but those New York Beauty-type blocks are tempting.

  20. I love the new York beauty blocks. Since I have never made that block, I would love the opportunity to see what I can do with these and maybe even make more of these blocks. Thanks for the opportunity to enter the giveaway.

  21. I'd be tickled to win those NY Beauties. My hand-sewing group likes to make lap quilts for veterans in wheelchairs and I think they would be just perfect for that!

  22. fabric choices are the hardest thing for me. It is the hurdle in the race that I can't get over easily. I love to get blocks from others where their creativity has already made the hard choices. I make quilts to raise money for our school and the community with blocks given to me. I love working with other's works-- it takes the pressure off :) I would happily take your blocks (all or either set) and create something fabulous with them that would support other's fundraising goals. Pick me! :) p.s. thank you for offering them up in the first place.
