Name this block: new flimsy

I was inspired by a quilt called "Mill Girls" in one of Jennifer Chiaverini's books.  The block is called "Variable Star" on Quilter's Cache and in Judy Rehmel's block identification book. It is called "Chickadee Quadrille" in Judy Hopkins' "Around the Block" book.  To me this block is neither. Can anyone else provide a name?

It's been a while since I've used my 30's reproduction fabrics.  They are just right for a springtime quilt!   (Blocks are 9".  Flimsy is 80 x 91.)

  3. I think I'd just continue to call it Mill Girls Star. It is truly a "keeper" and looks like one I need to add to my someday list!

  4. This is beautiful! The colors just sparkle. As for a name - I can't make up names for my own quilts, so I'm no help.

9" blocks? I would like to make a few of these blocks, but I think I'll up-size them a little bit. I have great respect for people who work with small patches, but am not one of them!

  5. Wow! What a wonderful quilt. I haven't a clue what to call it either as I very rarely name my quilts for lack of being able to do that. Whatever you call it, it's simply grand!

  6. Sorry, I can't help with the block name either. BUT, I really love the resulting quilt :)

  7. According to "501 Quilt Blocks" this is named variable star. To me it looks like Sister's Choice variation, so - how about Nann's Choice Star?

  9. I do love this quilt. I think I should add it to my "someday" list. Did you use 1930's prints? Do you have any ancestors who lived in the 1930's and quilted? If so you could name it after one them: e.g., Jane's Star.
