Stevens is still in the hospital. The GI tube has been removed and they're going to start real food today. He'll stay through the weekend (if not longer). I toured three care facilities yesterday and found one that I really like.
Our guild's annual Raffle Mania was Wednesday evening. Members bring no-longer-loved quilt, textile, and fiber-related stuff (like yarn). Each person gets free raffle tickets based on meeting attendance through the year. Additional tickets are available for purchase. I got six free and spend $20 for 35 more.
I brought five 5-lb bags (100 yards total), a bag of spools of thread (decorative rayon, mostly), and some notions.Left: the bags I brought. The paper bags are where we put our raffle tickets.
There was a lot on offer. The guild made $467 from ticket sales.
I came home with less than I brought -- but not by much! By weight, 92 yards. I spent $20 so that's .21 cents a yard.

I'm glad you found a place you like - that's one more step in the process. Here, you're not given a choice for the most part and if a person needs to find a placement quickly they are put wherever there's a spot available and that's often miles away from their family. We were very lucky that when we had to find a placement for my Mom one came available close to where we live. My Dad, on the other hand, lived with us right up until the end (12 years). Now we wonder what will become of us because our boys live too far away to be of any help.
ReplyDeleteOn a better note - I love the name you've chosen for your latest quilt. It suits the colours and the fabrics you've used.
I just realized I've been spelling Stevens' name wrong - I'm so sorry! Glad you have found a place you like - that's such a huge decision. The raffle event looks so fun, and I love your Garden Path design, too. Pretty green and florals!
ReplyDeleteExcellent news about finding a place you like - now we can hope they have an appropriate space available! Garden Path is very springy, eh?
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for Stevens' weekend and the move to real food (or at least what the hospital calls real food....).

Great that you've found a place for Steven that you like;))) and that they removed that NG tube--and he can start to eat food...hope he continues to do well...good luck with that placement...
ReplyDeleteLove your Garden Path project--so pretty...nice work hugsx2 Julierose
That's fun to bring home different fabric than you donated. New fabric, new ideas. I like the greens with the floral fabrics. I hope the facility you like works out well for Stevens.
ReplyDeleteThat is such good news that Stevens is improving, and also that you found a care facility that you like. I know it must be a difficult time for you.
ReplyDeleteMy quilt guild used to do the same type of raffle each year, and I always enjoyed the chance to pass along some fabrics and notions. It was not unusual for me to bring home even more than I contributed. Unfortunately, the board has decided to hold a different type of fundraiser this year.
Thinking of you and Stevens, hoping the facility that seems best for his needs has an opening so he won't have to be moved several times. Garden Path is coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteGlad you found a place of comfort for both Stevens and your own peace of mind. Love your Garden Path quilt, and what a fun fund raiser for your guild!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that Steven's is making progress and doing better. Looks like a very fun raffle, you did really well there. Garden Path is looking good, very pretty and perfect for spring.
