A librarian's Valentine!
We didn't get much snow from Wednesday's storm (about 3") but now it's very, very cold. I went to Rotary yesterday morning (S stayed in) and didn't go out the rest of the day. More snow coming this weekend.

Old Town is a flimsy!
I added a white border to stabilize the edge. 8 yards by weight. I have an April appointment with Barb-the-quilter.
I made two placemats out of the leftovers from Lantern, the top-along for February. (See last Friday's post.) They await binding.
These start with 4" squares and 1.5" x 5" strips and are trimmed to 3.5".

Old Town is a beauty, Nann! I don't even remember what Bonnie's borders looked like, but I love your checkerboards. Hope you warm up - Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the BIG flimsy completion. I really like that final border-it makes the quilt stop :-)
ReplyDeleteI like your Ohio Stars. That is a reminder to me to make some in the dark background/light star. I tend to go light for a background too often.
ReplyDeleteLovely Old Town flimsy. I know is a wonderful accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteThe double border on the Old Town quilt is such an intriguing way to surround the blocks. Gives a nice open frame to the blocks.
ReplyDeleteLovely works, can't type much right now...;))) hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on completing your Old Town mystery top, it's gorgeous! How many more Ohio star blocks are you planning before turning them into a flimsy? They would make a lovely traditional boy's baby quilt.
ReplyDeleteYour Old Town top is fantastic! I'm impressed by how quickly you got it put together. Bonnie's mysteries seem to take me forever. Love the Ohio Stars too!
ReplyDeletea bevy of nice projects as usual nann...but your excellent sewing aside, i do not care for the old town pattern at all.....i mostly like scrappy but sometimes more isn't necessarily better...
ReplyDeleteOh wow. Words fail me at how amazing your Old Town looks! I do hope you plan to keep it for yourself after all that work.
ReplyDeleteOld Town is amazing!. I like the white border that you added. I'm making the parts for the sashing on mine.--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
