Weekly update: OMG is En Provence

My name was in the Chicago Tribune yesterday on the same page as the Queen and her family.
Why is it that New Year's Day good-luck food is southern?   We had Hoppin' John (black-eyed peas and rice), collards (green for money), and ham for dinner. I added a dash of sriracha (Asian hot sauce) to the HJ.   Apparently even the prospect of good-luck food was efficacious.  I got an email from Patty at Elm Street Quilts saying that I won the December OMG finish prize!  It's a gift certificate from Bagmakers Supply .  That will help me achieve my 2017 goal to make six totebags.

My Magpie friend Sarah always warns, "Do not do laundry on New Year's Day!"  The idea is that whatever you do on January 1 you'll do each day in the coming year.  Actually, I don't mind doing laundry though I understand what a time-consuming chore it was before modern washers and dryers. Still, to establish the routine for 2017, we read the newspaper and went to church. I took an afternoon nap and spent the evening sewing.

It's time to declare my One Monthly Goal for January:  assemble En Provence, the 2016 Quiltville mystery.

Bonnie issued the sixth part on Friday.  Here are those units.

She issued the seventh part yesterday.  It includes these units and the final layout.  I got 30 out of 80 trimmed last evening.

I really like the colorway. I love the design!

Today's line up of link ups:

  4. I wouldn't be surprised if the queen was excited to have her picture in The Chicago Tribune on the same page as a blurb about you. I hope you're home to accept the call when she rings you up to chat.

  7. Congratulations on your 10 seconds of fame! Never did like any of those southern food New Years traditions. Hum, we had soup and home made bread. I LOVE En Provence but I didn't start it. No more BH mysteries until I finish Easy Street and a small piece I did in one of her classes. And, I'm really inclined to make this one as it is gorgeous. Good luck with your OMG.

  8. Haven't started En Provence yet but I have printed the clues. I think I'll change up the colors a bit to suit my own taste better. Right now I'm trying to focus on some UFOs so I won't feel guilty when I start something new! Good luck on your OMG! You get a lot done!

  9. They are really pretty colors for the mystery quilt. I'm still trying to finish things and not start anything new. Congratulations on being on the same page as the Queen. You must be on the same level! I wasn't feeling well yesterday so I slept for most of it. I don't mind the sleeping, as long as my health is good, so I guess it is okay.
