DWM: two finishes and fence-sitting

In and around the activity chronicled in the previous two posts, I finished two flimsies.  I had enough backing for both of these quilts that I didn't need to make a pieced insert but I'd done that with the other quilts I finished this month, so why not?

Purple-and-green HeartStrings.
I pieced the strip of green/purple specifically for this backing.

Framed Coins.  I made the flimsy last spring when I was displaced from my studio. I had just enough of the orange-with-circles print to cut 5" strips for the border.  The insert is made with 3.5" nine-patches from the Block Swappers.

I have decided to sit on the fence during this year's
Quiltville mystery.  I will save each weekly clue in the event that it turns out to be a design that I really like.  Meanwhile I will devote my quilting time to finishing flimsies and making swap blocks.

  1. This style makes the prettiest backs! I always sit on the fence with Bonnie's mysteries..... the pieces are too many and too small. LOL

  2. The inserts in the back of your quilts are very fun. I really like the framed coins.

  3. Very lovely idea to add so much interest to the backing. I've also sat on the fence through the mysteries, though I admire the creative brain Bonnie has and how much she gives to her readers and fans in designing complex quilts!

  4. Those small details make such a large impact on the back of those quilts. Nice job! Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!

  5. I love the backs, so much fun.

I'm sitting on the fence about Bonnie's mystery. I saw one quilter's fabrics when I was blog hopping. Red, white and two blues. I hope I can find it again because I really want to see how it looks.

  7. Your backings look so great. But truth is I hate to piece backing. You're really popping out finishes now. Good for you. I'm on the sidelines with you on Bonnie's mystery this year. I'm trying to finish Easy Street but presents are getting in the way. I'm hoping to get the center together before next week. We'll see how successful I am. 😀
