Three rails or two?

Is the white background of the Card Trick blocks overwhelmed by three rails?  Should I just use two rails instead?   Should I work in some more white (a skinny inner border)?

Opinions are welcome!

  1. Either 2 or 3 works if the borders are a bit more neutral. I think the colors are fighting the "cards" a bit. 3 that go from dark on the outside to lighter next to the field (but darker than the field) would add wondeful depth.

  3. i like them with two borders, but if you go with three then i would try and work in a little more white, yes. any way you do it, they are very pretty blocks.

  4. I prefer the depth provided by the three piece border.

  5. I like the three rails, too, and like Rashida sai, it gives depth. It looks a bit like windows.

  6. So? How large do you want it to be? That could determine if you want 2 or 3. White corner blocks in the sashing would add another part to the design. Cut a few out and place them there to see if you like that.

  7. I don't think the white is overpowered as much as the card trick centers are with the three bar sashings. To me, the two bars are more proportionally pleasing.

But as always, I defer to the quilt makers who get to see their work in real life. Sometimes our computers make them look a little different than they really are.
