I paid $1.60 per yard this time. Many pieces of Thimbleberries (Paintbox 2002).
Thank you for your compliments on the Bingo Board quilt I showed on Monday. The second kit had both white- and black-bordered blocks and an assortment of floral prints (all from donations to the guild).
The suggested setting was to cut the florals into squares and alternate them with the bingo boards.
I put my new-found knowledge of EQ8 to work getting accurate corner pieces for the octagon triangles. I auditioned several prints for the large background and came across this multicolored print. It was a remnant, 1-1/4 yard of 108" wide which works out to 3 yards.
The pieced back.
It's 40 x 72.
No plan for these yet.
Linking up with Finished or Not Friday
and now it's time to begin Old Town, the 2024 Quiltville mystery!
Octagon triangles? Wow - that's impressive!!! Way beyond my capabilities, that's for sure.
ReplyDelete(btw - my emails to you are still bouncing back as being undeliverable. Curious to know if you're receiving emails from anyone else or if it's something between my computer and yours)
Hi Nann - further note....I'm not having a problem commenting on your blog, it's direct to you private emails that aren't getting through.
DeleteNeat octagons!! Love those 3.5" nine patches too. Great to use up all the leftovers!! We got rain but no snow --that NW wind is very cold this morning..feels like November.
ReplyDelete.hugs for a great weekend...Julierose
LOVE your design for the "snake". And that focus fabric above/below? I've used that wide backing before. It is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday to you and Stevens.
What a fun quilt design, and I love the placemat made from the leftovers, too! You come up with the best ways to put interesting blocks together. Hope you got in a walk today - I am hoping for some sunshine to warm up my walk, too!
ReplyDeleteAren't you getting fancy with some octagon triangles! We had some snow flurries that resulting in everything lightly dusted in snow for a few hours.
ReplyDeleteIsn't EQ8 great? Saves so much drafting time. I love how you "colored" the octagon block to create a ribbon across the width of the quilt. Also, your creativity to combine the whole cloth fabric with the intense piecing. Unique and stunning choices.
ReplyDeleteVery Hungry Caterpillar vibe from the octagonal triangles.

Snow is prettier when it melts quickly and you can still get places. Your something completely different looks pretty amazing. EQ is such a great tool for figuring out those tweaks you need. I started cutting my fabrics for Bonnie's first clue, but didn't get as far as sewing any of them together as yet.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get a photo of our snow because we were cleaning the garage. I don't think we had more than an inch on the grass and it was gone by 8 p.m.
ReplyDeletesnow?? it snowed here for about 10 min then went to rain...ok by me. nice haul as usual...you do have good taste in fabric! nice bingo block quilts....and more tiny 9 patches are always welcome
ReplyDeleteI love your design with the octagon triangles. You’re obviously doing well with EQ!
ReplyDeleteYou have been sew busy!! The octagon design is interesting and looks very complex. Snow! Yikes. Tis the season.
ReplyDeleteCute that it's called a bingo board block!!! The blocks are colorful, fun, too!
