Friday check in: thrift shop deals + a finish

After an appointment yesterday morning I stopped at two thrift shops and indulged.   The stripe was a roll of quilt-weight home dec,  54" wide.  18 yards for $10!  A smaller home dec on the left, two twin flat sheets, and homespun (curtains).    Total cost:  $23.

Washing and ironing all of it took some time. Then I finished the wall hanging.  Quilted, bound, labeled.

  5. I'm sure that there's a rule somewhere about not leaving unloved fabric in thrift stores. It's been a while since I found so much as a nice sheet but it doesn't stop me from looking.

  8. Wow! Very clever wall hanging with the tote bag center. You librarians need to do a little more threatening if you ask me!!! Your wall hanging reminds me that I never finished the quilt I started with a tea towel center - Sophie's Tea Towel Challenge! I can never think of what to add for rounds for medallions. Evidently you don't! And great score at the thrift shop. I haven't been to one for ages. Seems I never get into town anymore since I retired. When I was working I used to stop by at both thrift stores once a week on my way home from work.

  9. Love your finished quilt and the message. I was watching an interview with Judy Blume on The PBS Newshour, where she has a section in her book shop designated for banned books which the 'Powers That Be' consider unsuitable for the populace. This caused me to cheer out loud. Fabulous thrift shop finds.
