We got out to two forest preserves this weekend. I'd have walked farther but the snow-covered trail was hard going, even with a hiking stick.

I've always liked having a stash of finished quilts on hand. That makes it easy to donate a quilt to a fundraiser or give a quilt to someone in need. My quilts-to-give had increased from a pile to a small mountain. This week I did something about it.I donated 15 quilts to Staben House, a transitional living facility run by Waukegan Township. They have capacity for six families with one to four children in each. The families stay an average of four months. They can use the quilts while they're there and then take them when they leave. (Our guild charity project in 2016 provided quilts and pillowcases for Staben House.)
I realized how many quilts-to-give were not labeled. Now they are. I have a second batch to give to another agency this coming week.

Meanwhile, I've begun a daisy wall hanging that's one of my OMGs for February.

A beautiful give Nann. Yea for some hiking even if shortened by snow. :-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful donation Nann! Pretty yellow daisy wall hanging, it's so spring. A hike is always good for body and soul.
ReplyDeleteLove the daisies!
ReplyDeleteGood for you moving those quilts-to-give out in the wild where they can be used. Your daisies look good. I like the pieced background.
ReplyDeleteThe daisy project is just sweet. So cute! - Sara
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to donate all those quilts for those in need. ;)))
ReplyDeleteYour (Shasta) daisies are looking really good. I like the sunny background you chose...
hugs, Julierose
Bless your heart for giving the quilts to those in need. It really is a good feeling isn't it! I am trying to get some together also and will use for H2H but donate locally. Your daisies look so fun!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pic of you and a pile of quilts! And hopefully soon you will be posting pics of flowers along those trails instead of snow.
ReplyDeleteThat's so wonderful that you have a stash of quilts to give away, and it sounds like a very special place to give them to! A good reminder about labeling our quilts, too - I'm always behind on that chore. Your daisy wall-hanging looks pretty already!
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for making so many quilts to give away for good causes. One of my major goals this year is to make more donation quilts - you inspire me!
