Midweek: a finish, basket BOM, and more batiks

Batik Bars is quilted and bound!

I got the swirly Asian print way back in 2000. I remember that because I stopped at a quilt shop the weekend I went to an out-of-state wedding. I thought it would be good for a jacket. Over the years I'd take it off the shelf and think about using it (though the idea of a jacket was long gone). I just couldn't cut it up  so I used it in its entirety.   (The other green print on the right came from the birthday bash stash. The one at the bottom was on the shelf and it worked.)

Tonight is our guild's annual ice cream social.  This is month 11 for our guild BOM, which I co-chair. The theme is year is baskets.  Designer Amanda Wetherill graciously gave me permission to use her 6-1/2" picnic basket block.    My twist is to use bandanas!  Each BOM participant will get a slice of a bandana (one border is sufficient) and the background.  They supply the contrast for the basket liner and the coordinate for the basket handle.

There are hundreds (thousands) of quilt design I'd like to try. When overwhelmed by possibilities I turn to something tried and true.  I'm aiming for 60 blocks (7" unfinished). Yes, I cut up more batiks to add to the scrappy mix.
