As I watched the election returns on Tuesday night I pieced scrappy 25-patch blocks using 2.5" squares. The scraps were appropriate for this very scrappy campaign season.
Quicker than you can say "presidential transition team" I set them. Then I pieced the back. Then I basted, quilted, and bound it. 66" x 76", 7 yards from my stash.
The fabric on the left is from 2004. I can't always identify when I acquired a particular piece, but that was purchased for a significant project.

I cut up most scraps as a generate them, but not always. Most years I fill a box, wrap it, and take it to the quilt guild holiday party for the white elephant exchange. This year they're not having the white elephant, so I'm cutting up these scraps and sorting them.
See what other quilt bloggers are up to!
P.S. The squirrel got tired of waiting for us to carve our pumpkins so he cleaned this one out by himself. (I have now cut up the other pumpkin and boiled it down for our Thanksgiving pie.)
another lovely., Nann. and love the back too!
ReplyDeletePS Whenever I see your quilts I always wonder why I try to make mine so complicated. The ones you make are so traditional and yet has that ole time great comfort feel.
ReplyDeleteI felt exactly the same as you did. Was texting my daughter election night and she couldn't imagine what she would say to her two daughters. The 6 year old had a pretty good understanding. I must say during all that tv watching I knit up a storm. I'm impressed you remember where you got your fabric from. Sometimes I can, most of the time I can't. Oh well as long as I enjoy using the fabric up!
ReplyDeleteLove the scrappy quilt and the backing.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy the campaign is finally over; however, I'm not looking forward to the next four years, especially since the president-elect is the one who caused so much unrest.
Agree with your sentiments! Living in IN we had the Rs sweep everything and Trump took the state by 21% so it was a tough night. Glad you had such a pretty quilt as your outcome. Something worthwhile!
ReplyDeleteLovely scrappy quilt Nann. I still have not been able to process what happened in this year's election. I have a feeling it will take me a great while. Thanks for sharing your lovely quilt with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteLooking pretty ♥
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful scrappy quilt! Congrats on the finish.
