Grand Illusion continues. Here's Step 3:
The leftovers from the strip panels yielded these twosies (1.5"):
I am no longer as enamored of 30's prints as I once was. I have too many to just toss out. I am joining two long-time participants on the Stashbusters Yahoo Group who are having a 30's Bin Bust. Their stashes are down to bins, while mine is still two shelves....but I'll get there! Here are strips cut for the first project in that effort.
I'm linking up with other quiltmakers for Design Wall Monday and Mystery Monday .
Your GI units are looking good! I love to see quilts made with 30s, but I don't enjoy working with them. I still have a few, though. Maybe I should join the bin-bust, too.
ReplyDeleteI have a plastic shoe box of them and a pattern I want to make with them. Except, I've raided the background fabric I had with them. And, periodically I pull a piece and cut a little off of it. Mine are mostly from the mid 90s and I think the fabrics being made now don't always match. It'll be a long time before I do anything with these fabrics though. I want to finish several more things rather than start stuff. (that's probably more for me to remember it and take that to heart than for anyone else to pay the least attention to it!)
ReplyDeletePretty string quilt! Your Grand Illusion blocks are pretty, too. I am still liking my thirties prints. They just make me happy, and that is always a good thing!
ReplyDeleteAnother great finish!
ReplyDeleteYour string quilt looks great! I have never been a huge fan of the 30's prints, so have very few. It's good to get them used up if you aren't as enamored with them, though. They do make lovely quilts.
ReplyDeleteI don't have much 30's..one bin mostly gleaned from a friend who was reducing stash, lol...I really like it but I don't tend to buy it. Now civil war is another story! Way to go on the mystery!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful greens in your mystery blocks!
ReplyDeleteHave fun reducing your 30s stash. I love the look of them, but don't have many myself.
Congratulations on the finish! Maybe the two-sies will become Leprechaun warmers for St. Patrick's? Your thirties fabrics show great variety, what fun!
ReplyDeleteA 30's Bin Bust at Stashbusters, you say. I think I will have to stop by.
ReplyDeleteI Love Monday even more than normal when the Mystery Link-up is on. So many are making this quilt. I'm happy to visit and see all the colors!
ReplyDeleteThe brights with the black and white make for a stunning quilt. Congrats on the finish. Looks like you made good progress on Bonnie's mystery. Those strip sets take a lot of time!
