(The lower block is just a Friendship Star, not a Douat pattern.)

I pieced Crabapples (a Bonnie Hunter pattern) last year. It was perfect for a wedding gift for my sister and her fiance. At 70 x 70 it can be a two-person sofa quilt. The backing fabric, a Red Tag bargain, shows that very few fabrics are unredeemable -- this was ideal for this quilt. I finished quilting it last evening. I used a variety of patterns, no marking, and it turned out well. (Backing + binding = 3-5/8 yards from stash.)

Personalization! |
The wedding is April 29 so I am right on time.
At a garage sale on Friday I scored a half dozen boxes of books for the library, all free. After that generosity I had to buy something! Seven one-yard pieces of fabric (six quilting cottons and one corduroy) for $7.00.
See what other quiltmakers are working on at Patchwork Times!
I"m gonna have to get that book, HSTs are one of my favorites and I have so many sitting around. Love the crabapple quilt, no marking is the best and I LOVE the writing on the quilt, so special.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting the wedding quilt done in time :) It is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat is one of my favorite books too - such great pattern inspiration! Congratulations on the wedding quilt finish, and on time too.
ReplyDeleteI think I may have that book - I am going to have to look for it. The crabapple quilt looks great!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have that book. I'll have to see if the library has a copy. Love you HST project.
ReplyDeleteThe Crabapples quilt is great - I like how you quilted the names into the quilt.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular Scraps is one of my favorite books. I was just recommending to a group of quilters last week.

ReplyDeleteLove that crabapple quilt. Too pretty. You're good! Ahead of time. I'm always late. Probably because I procrastinate.
