Midweek: a movie and 9-patch

Yesterday I met Lynn at the movie theater and we enjoyed the matinee performance of Hamnet.  It was very good.  I haven't read the book yet (I have it on hold).  Lynn said the script followed the story pretty well, as it should considering that Maggie O'Farrell wrote the novel and co-wrote the screenplay.

On the small screen at home:  Netflix has all of West Wing.  I hadn't watched any of it and I began bingeing it last evening.

Here are the scrappy black/white nine-patches thus far.

I calculated that the sashing requires 1-1/2 yards.  Many possibilities fell short of that.  This jade green is an old Jinny Beyer that I got at an estate sale (5+ yards for about $2.50 for $1.88!).  There will be enough for the border.

  1. Love those black and white patches! I would probably choose a brighter color to make them pop, but that jade is lovely. I can't believe you got it for only $2.50 per yard! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

  2. Good to know about the movie and the book - I'm not familiar with either! I have watched the West Wing all the way through more than once and do love that one. Looks like your nine patch quilt is coming along nicely!
