I neglected to mention that we voted last week. We got mail-in ballots and I dropped them in the box inside the early voting location at Zion City Hall. There were about 30 people in line to vote in person. I walked in, and out, with a woman I sort of recognized. As we exited the building I said in a low voice, "May the best woman win!" to which she said, "You've got that right!"
Here is the backstory of our county's I Voted sticker.
We enjoyed walks at McDonald Woods, Ray Lake, and Van Patten Woods.
Upper left: ground cherries in their husks.
The ADA-accessible row gave us convenient seats. One of the ushers is a long-time acquaintance (from the late 90's) and he helped S get to the restroom (and out of it), for which I was grateful. (It's a dilemma when there is no 'family' or unisex restroom.)

In the studio:
Earlier this month I made some sawtooth stars.
Last week I made some sixteen-patch blocks.
I reduced the sixteen-patches to eight-patches and made more of them. I made more stars, too.
I added some HSTs.
64 x 72
(Oops. The HST at the upper left is mis-oriented. An easy fix, fortunately.)

The concert sounds awesome. I enjoy bluegrass music. In November some friends and I have tickets to see Mannheim Steamroller in Sioux Falls. I'm really looking forward to that. What a lovely quilt - has a great vintage look to it.
ReplyDeleteWell now-doesn't that just look so comforting to wrap up in! Nice!
ReplyDelete[And here I just said that I couldn't access your posts--well, I am able to today;)) Hurrah!!:))) ]
ReplyDeleteI just love that comment about voting--my sentiments EXACTLY!! Surely these are scarey times....
I really love how this quilt came together--it really looks so warm and comforting with your fabric choices...nice work hugs, Julierose
I'M WITH HER!!!!! Great quilty progress :-)

ReplyDeleteThe quilt turned out great. Glad you could go enjoy the conceert.
ReplyDeleteYour I Voted sticker is awesome! We also had a special one in Colorado this year. You have some great places for walks in your area. Love the fun quilt top you're working on, too!
ReplyDeleteThe 2 sets of blocks make a great quilt. Maybe I need to copy you with a batik one. I still have so many strips in the project boxes.
ReplyDeleteWe voted so long ago- Virginia has really early voting (for now but who knows how long with our dreadful governor). May the best woman win indeed! Ceci
ReplyDeleteLove how that Sawtooth Star quilt turned out! I just pulled up some ground cherries that appeared out of nowhere this year in the middle of my daylilies.
ReplyDeleteYou've been having some piecing fun! Love those stars. And how refreshing is your lake walk with that beautiful maple? Fall- a wonderful time of year.
ReplyDeleteI’m with you on the best woman shall win statement! As an FYI there is at least one gender neutral bathroom at CLC. The one I know of is in the T building which is over a bit from the auditorium but there may be one in that area too. It’s in a corridor btw T and D by the study area.
ReplyDeleteHello, Anon -- the usher said there is a family restroom on the second floor of the Performing Arts building. That's all well and good, but it would take WAY too long to get there from the Lumber Center. When we need to go, we need to go right now!
DeleteCatching up on my blog reading. Your scrappy homespun is a creative delight! Unfortunately, the best woman did not win, but the sadly lacking orange man did. It’s going to be a loooong four years.
